Deep Glass

Deep glass is an unique construction feature of PVC windows manufactured from the HORIZONT PS^® penta plus system. Its principle is in the elimination of influence of the spacer in the double or triple glazing unit. This spacer often causes condensation of humidity on the interior side of the glass.

The solution is to lower the index of heat transmission in this critical point. We may use a spacer with low index of heat conductivity, which makes the final product more expensive. The idea of the “Deep Glass” glazing is to cover this critical point by imbedding the glazing unit deeper into the casement profile, which in addition has bigger insulation mass in front of the spacer.

Various types of spacers were compared in tests, together with different depths of glazing. The results from the testing laboratory are noted below together with comments and images.

In the picture from the testing laboratory we can easily see the condensate in the bottom part of the double glazing unit, which is caused by temperature drop in the area affected by the uncovered spacer.
